ANDREW HEFFERNAN holds a personal training certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), the industry leader in powerful, safe and effective fitness techniques. As a trainer, he has worked with fitness clients from all walks of life and has achieved significant results with all of them. Areas of expertise include weight loss, muscle gain, energy improvement, muscle tone and size, and reduction in stress and back pain.

Andrew brings an eclectic mix of talents and experience to his work as a trainer. In addition to his fitness certification and experience as a strength trainer, he holds a black belt in Shorin-Ryu Karate, two years’ experience in Jeet Kune Do and Sabaki Method, and two certifications from the Society of American Fight Directors (Certified Actor Combatent, 1993 and 1996).
In early 2005, with little experience as a cyclist and none as a swimmer, Andrew began training for triathlons. Eight months later he placed in the top five in his age group in his first three races, including one second-place age-group finish at Bonelli Park’s Triathlon Express Series, where he also placed 8th overall in a field of almost 200. With leading asthma specialist Dr. Robert Klein, Andrew has written a proposal for a book on asthma management and specifically the effects of exercise on asthma. Andrew's success at triathlon and other endurance sports is all the more notable since he is a lifelong asthma sufferer himself. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, writer Heidi Rose Robbins, and their daughter, Kate.
